The big news last week was presidential candidate Joe Biden’s selection of Kamala Harris as his running mate in this year’s election.
We thought we’d check and see how this affects our readers thinking about the campaign in our weekly survey. The results will appear on Wednesday and our commentators, Al From and Craig Fuller will discuss it in the Thursday edition of The Talbot Spy.

Despite what we see on the Eastern Shore our society is becoming less concerned with the details of race in our leadership. I think this is a good thing. Could Harris’s parents have married 60 years ago in this part of the country? Would they have been comfortable here? Would they be comfortable today? At least some progress has been made.
The last question on the survey asked me what I considered myself. I used to consider myself an independent. In Illinois I voted 3 times at least for Jim Thompson (a great man who died this weekend) and various Republicans. Since moving to Maryland I have voted for both Republicans and Democrats for governor. I voted for Gilchrist and vote for Johnny Mautz and other Republicans. I like Hogan.
The last 3 1/2 years have taught me that, at least on the national level, it is time to forget the GOP. We, as a free society, just cannot afford more of this.
BTW, my background is in the sciences. That may have something to do with it. I also have 2 successful daughters who both have advanced degrees but happen to have had a Hispanic mother.

She has no core values. A true vote in the wind to whatever is popular at the moment in an unabashed attempt to gain whatever votes she can.
If you want to see the face of pure evil, go to her YouTube comments on Brett Kavanaugh. She knows no bounds of decency

Human beings have evolved to live in groups with other people. This gives us an advantage as our numbers help to keep us safe and allow us to work together to achieve big things. For this to work, though, we need to live by certain codes in regards to how we treat others in the group. Thus, we have evolved emotions such as empathy and sympathy that help to bring individuals together as a unit.
Not all people have these emotions, though. Sociopaths are typically described as people with no consideration for other people and will happily take advantage of others wherever possible. They can also be charming, intelligent, and very dangerous. A sociopath will often destroy other peoples’ lives in their pursuit of personal gain. And that her In a nut shell. She is a Sociopaths.

Mr. Ruth: I am assuming you have the professional license to make such a sweeping suggestion as to the woman’s mental state, is that correct? Or you just parroting something you saw/heard on social media?
