The Talbot County Department of Planning and Zoning will hold a community open house and public kick-off meeting on Tuesday, August 20 at the Cordova Volunteer Fire Company Hall to begin the process of developing a master plan for the Village of Cordova.
The idea of a Cordova Village Master Plan grew from the 2016 Talbot County Comprehensive Plan, which recognized the diverse character of the county’s 22 villages. The plan recommends that village master plans be developed to help guide new development.
When completed, the Master Plan will identify existing community assets, challenges, needs and desires, along with potential development, safety, economic and enhancement opportunities consistent with the existing character and vision for the Village’s future. Community involvement is an essential part of the planning process. A final draft Master Plan is expected by the end of 2019.
On August 20, the planning team, which includes consultant Rummel, Klepper & Kahl, LLP, will spend the entire day in Cordova, exploring the village and meeting with residents, businesses, and officials. There will be a public open house starting at 5:30 p.m. and a formal presentation and opportunities for the public to ask questions and provide input beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The day will include blocks of time for members of the public to “drop in” at their convenience, discuss the project, and give input to planning team members. All meetings will take place at the Cordova Volunteer Fire Company Hall, located at 11864 Kittys Corner Road in Cordova. Additional opportunities for community input will be announced as the process continues.
