Talbot County Leads Maryland in Per Capita State Arts Funding

The State of Maryland has announced grants for the arts totaling almost $16.6 million for fiscal year 2019, which began on July 1. The funds are being distributed through the Maryland State Arts Council to arts organizations, programs, and county arts councils.

Maryland’s 24 local arts councils were awarded almost $3.3 million in MSAC Community Arts Development (CAD) grants. These were calculated on the basis of a block grant of $122,246 to each of the 23 counties and Baltimore City, which constituted 90 percent of the totals, with the other 10 percent based on local populations.  More than $13.3 million was awarded to 290 arts organizations and programs statewide under the MSAC Grants for Organizations (GFO) program.

Once again, Talbot County was first among the state’s 24 political jurisdictions on a per capita basis, at $14.04 per resident, followed by Baltimore City at $12.00 and Kent County at $9.59.  The following local organizations got the state grants:
