Talbot County Public Schools is pleased to announce that both St. Michaels Middle High and Easton High schools have earned honors as “Best” high schools in U.S. News & World Report’s 2020 Best High Schools rankings.
U.S. News & World Report numerically ranked nearly 18,000 schools nationwide and recently published its 2020 Best High Schools. Schools with a national rank in the top 40% (#7117 or higher) achieved status as “Best” high schools and earned eligibility to display the U.S. News-trademarked 2020 Best High Schools award.

St. Michaels Middle High School (SMMHS) is ranked 67thin Maryland and #3033 in the national rankings. The AP® participation rate at St. Michaels MiddleHigh School is 54%. The total minority enrollment is 24%, and 38% of students are economically disadvantaged.

Easton High School (EHS) is ranked 88th in Maryland and #4706 nationally.The AP® participation rate at Easton High is 61%. The total minority enrollment is 38%, and 40% of students are economically disadvantaged.

The Best High Schools rankings, available online only, are produced in conjunction with RTI International, a global research firm. All data comes directly from official third-party sources including the U.S. Department of Education Common Core of Data, statewide math and reading level assessment tests, high school graduation rates, and College Board.
The six ranking indicators used are as follows:College Readiness (30%), College Curriculum Breadth (10%), Math and Reading Proficiency (20%), Math and Reading Performance (20%), Underserved Student Performance (10%), Graduation Rate (10%).
