May 3, 2024 by Talbot Historical Society

Local professional photographer Laird Wise must have taken this photo for C&P Telephone Company, advertising their newly installed outdoor phone at the intersection of Rt. 50 and Matthewstown Road! The automobile has been tentatively identified as a 1959 Chevrolet. Can you help identify the pretty model and the two gentlemen? Remember Ayers Diner visible to the left? Photo from the Talbot Historical Society’s Laird Wise Collection.

The car is absolutely a 1959 Chevy; I owned one, a four-door hardtop sedan. The ’59’s were easily distinguishable; it was the only year of the massive rear fender wings. they were “tamed down” and rounded off for 1960.
