Before the Chesapeake Bay Bridge opened in 1952, many Marylanders relied on ferry companies to cross between our Eastern and Western shores. The newest publication from MCHC Press, “When Claiborne Bridged the Chesapeake: The Rise and Fall of the Ferry Era” by Marty Bollinger, chronicles the remarkable history of the ferry industry on the Eastern Shore of Maryland during the nineteenth- and early-twentieth centuries.
This Thursday, November 6, join us at MCHC for the official book launch! Author and historian Marty Bollinger will be in conversation with Pete Lesher, chief historian with the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum and vice president of the Talbot County Council. Register today here.
For a limited time, you can order the book at a special discounted price of $20 when you register to attend this free event. Proceeds from this book will benefit the Talbot Historical Society and the Maryland Center for History and Culture.
