The Talbot Paramedic Foundation is conducting their annual direct mail fund drive appeal for 2024. The foundation is a national leader, along with Talbot County Department of Emergency Services, Team Trace, and Gunther’s Electric, as well as other partners in placing AEDs in public places. Locations where AEDs are located include area parks and recreational facilities and in buildings throughout the county. An AED enclosure is also located in Easton on Washington Street directly across from the Court House. More stations are planned as part of the continued expansion of public access to AEDs.
Each CARES (Cardiac Arrest Rescue Emergency Station) contains an automatic defibrillator, as well as Stop the Bleed tourniquet kits and Narcan to treat narcotic overdoses. The enclosures are temperature controlled and activate an audible alarm when accessed and protected by video surveillance.
The Foundation has over 250 AEDs placed in local businesses and non-profits throughout the county. In addition, local police vehicles are equipped with an AED and are dispatched simultaneously with EMS and fire personnel on cardiac arrest dispatches. The use of AEDs prominently located in area facilities and with emergency services and law enforcement response have resulted in a number of lives saved.
In addition, Talbot Paramedic Foundation provides scholarships to individuals seeking a career in emergency services or a medical related profession. Also, they award grants to the volunteer fire departments and county EMS department for special equipment needs.
This has been a very active year for his foundation according to President Wayne Dyott. “We have rapidly expanded Talbot CARES in the community and have plans to grow the program even more in the near future.” stated Dyott. “We depend upon the support from the community to enable us to continue our good work. New this year is the ability to make donations to our fund drive directly through PayPal. I ask for everyone to look for our Talbot Paramedic Foundation envelope in your mail and consider making a donation.”
The Talbot Paramedic Foundation has a long history of working toward saving lives by increasing awareness, raising funds, and developing life-saving programs, providing training and encouraging paramedic professionalism. The Talbot Paramedic Foundation has been working to improve emergency medical services since 1986.
