One of the highlights of the year for the Spy is reconnecting with the local teens in Talbot County. In the past, we have interviewed these young leaders who run a summer STEM camp. As the name suggests, this program offers hands-on science learning for children in grades 1 through 5, with high school students designing and leading the camp, promoting leadership and academic growth for both the campers and the teen instructors.
Seven months ago, the Spy interviewed some of the leaders of the 2024 STEM Camp, including Alexandria (Lexi) Rockwell. Fast forward, and now we find Lexi, both honored and humbled to be attending the Naval Academy as a member of the Class of 2029. It is a wonderful local story of real determination in the face of the the most selective admissions process in the country.
In our check-in session, Lexi talks about that experience, and more importantly, the importance of setting high goals.
