Talbot Thrive is excited to announce the launch of its new Running and Walking Club, a community initiative designed to promote physical activity, social connection, and overall well-being. Open to all ages and fitness levels, the club will provide a fun and supportive environment for individuals looking to get active, whether they are seasoned runners or simply enjoy a leisurely walk.
The club will meet Wednesdays at 6 p.m. at Idlewild Park by the tennis courts beginning March 12, offering a variety of route options to accommodate different paces and abilities. Participants can enjoy the beauty of Easton’s scenic rail trail and neighborhoods while engaging in a healthy and social activity.
“Regular movement is one of the best things we can do for our physical and mental health,” said Heather Grant of Talbot Thrive. “By creating a welcoming space for walkers and runners alike, we hope to encourage more people in our community to prioritize their well-being and connect with others along the way.”
Talbot Thrive is proud to partner with the Town of Easton Parks and Recreation and the YMCA of the Chesapeake to make this initiative possible. This collaboration ensures that community members have access to safe and well-maintained spaces for outdoor activity while fostering a culture of health and wellness in Talbot County.
“Exercise is one of the most powerful tools we have to support brain health,” said Wendy Palmer, DIrector of Disease Prevention at the YMCA. “Regular physical activity has been shown to improve memory, reduce stress, and boost overall cognitive function. The Running and Walking Club is a fantastic way for people to move their bodies while also strengthening their minds.”
This initiative aligns with Talbot Thrive’s commitment to enhancing public health by encouraging movement, reducing barriers to exercise, and fostering a sense of community. Whether you’re training for a race, looking for a workout buddy, or simply want to enjoy a stroll with friendly faces, the Running and Walking Club is a great way to get involved.
