Easton High School Senior Lilly Roser and St. Michaels High School Senior Nathan Simpkins will represent their respective schools as members of the TCPS Board of Education for the 2019-2020 school year. The students were chosen following an application and interview process and were officially sworn in during the September Board Meeting.
In addition to her outstanding academic achievements, Lilly Roser is actively involved in many extracurricular activities. She is the president of the Rotary Interact Club, the secretary of the Future Business Leaders of America Club, the Junior Ambassador for the National Honor Society, a member of the Spanish Honor Society, and serves on the Student Government panel. She trains as a competitive dancer, and has served as manager for the Field Hockey and Lacrosse teams.
Lilly is also a missionary, having travelled as far as El Salvador to help provide resources to others in need. She works in local food banks and shelters, and she has founded the platform titled “the Hidden Hunger Epidemic – Tackling Malnutrition.” Her ultimate goal is to see hunger coalitions established in each of the 24 districts of Maryland. Lilly has received the “Warrior Pride” award, a Rotary Youth Leadership Award, Character Counts and the national Volunteer Service Award.
Nathan Simpkins is also a high achiever both on and off campus. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society,and has been a presenter at the Environmental Symposium at Maryland State House. He has served on Teen Court, Student Government Association, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Prom Committee, as well as participating in the Debate Club. He is also active in athletics, including the Junior Varsity Soccer and Varsity Tennis teams and has received the Athletic/Academic Scholar Award. Nathan has served his community by volunteering at the Easton Volunteer Fire Department bingo nights, Talbot Interfaith Shelter, Easton Elementary Summer School, as a Biomedical Science Laboratory Assistant, and for the St. Michaels High School Alumni Association. He has been on both the Principal’s Honor Roll and the Honor Roll and hopes to pursue a career as a Nurse Practitioner.
