TCPS Appoints New Assistant Principals

TCPS newly appointed Assistant Principals, Ms. Cassandra Cornish and Ms. Kierra Farrare

Dr. Helga Einhorn, Assistant Superintendent for School Leadership and Student Success, has announced new Assistant Principal appointments for Talbot County Public Schools (TCPS) for the 2024-2025 school year. Ms. Kierra Farrare was appointed as Assistant Principal at Easton Middle School, effective July 15.  Ms. Cassandra Cornish has joined TCPS as Assistant Principal at White Marsh Elementary School, effective immediately.

Ms. Farrare earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration: Entrepreneurship from Frostburg State University and a Master of Education: Secondary Education from Wilmington University.  She holds Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Professional Certificates in Business Education 7-12 and Administrator I and II.  

She began her career as a Mathematics Teacher with Dorchester County Public Schools, where she most recently held the role of Administrative Intern and was a Faculty Council Chair. Her professional learning experiences include Restorative Justice, Conscious Discipline and Mental Health First Aid Training. She serves on the boards of All4Love, Inc. and the Dorchester County Library. 

Ms. Cassandra Cornish joins TCPS following a distinguished career with Queen Anne’s County Public Schools.  She earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Lincoln University and a Master of Arts in English/English as a Second Language, as well as Administrative I and II Certification from Salisbury University.

Her professional experience includes serving as a First Grade Teacher, Reading Specialist, Teacher Specialist, Assistant Principal and Principal. Over the course of her career, she has been an active member of School Leadership, School Improvement, Student Support, and  Pre-K Accreditation and Student Learning Objective (SLO) Teams.  She has been a Summer School Coordinator and has participated in a broad spectrum of leadership and professional learning opportunities.

“We are very excited to have Ms. Farrare and Ms. Cornish join the TCPS Leadership Team,” said Dr. Einhorn.  “Their backgrounds and experience are very well suited to their new roles, and their perspectives will complement the school communities they will serve.  I congratulate and welcome them both!
