The Challenge and Opportunity on Pine Street: A Chat with Cambridge Housing Specialist Yvette Robinson

January 27, 2022 by Dave Wheelan

Share

One of the more challenging projects that the city of Cambridge as taken on over the last few years has been the revitalization of the Pine Street historic district. Facing issues that include substandard housing, blight, the lack of homeownership, and unaffordable rent, the Pine Street project has been seen as one of the top priorities of elected officials and the general public.

One tangible example of Cambridge’s commitment has been hiring housing specialist Yvette Robinson to work directly on Pine Street. A nationally known expert in community development, the Detroit resident was selected to use her essential skills in funding and community outreach to address the current challenges and create and maintain a sense of community spirit.

WHCP Cambridge Community Radio’s Kevin Diaz and the Cambridge Spy’s Dave Wheelan spent yesterday morning talking to Yvette about what progress has been made since she started to work on the project in 2018.

This video is approximately minutes in length. For more information about the Pine Street project please go here.

Hi, Perfectly acceptable to use “neighborhood ” in place of “community ” every once in a while. Just a thought.
