Do you seek to live your truth? And love beautiful, handcrafted items with a message? October at The Green Phoenix Gallery features spiritual mosaics and alcohol ink decorated boxes by artist Lisa Skibenes.
“Nothing is more powerful than compassion, peace, living your truth, and radical acceptance,” says Skibenes.
A native New Yorker, now an Eastern Shore resident, Lisa Skibenes uses her affinity for sensuality and visual pleasure to create innovative, tactile art which taps into our spiritual connections. She creates dynamic works of mosaic art that celebrate life and are bursting with color. To offset the exacting nature of mosaics, Lisa also creates art with alcohol inks on tile. Free flowing, fluid and swirling, like watercolors; the inks are manipulated into stunning and unusual abstracts as well as scenes from nature. Set in velvet-lined boxes, these works combine art with functionality.
Lisa’s newest endeavor is Mantra Mirrors. These detailed mosaic mirrors contain a personal mantra or affirmation as a way to see yourself, reinforce what makes you special, and to be seen. Mirrors can be customized, or choose from those at The Green Phoenix, already created. A portion of each sale will be donated to an organization that supports women and their issues.
Gallery owner Andi Tassencourt invites the public to The Green Phoenix on First Friday, October 4, from 5 to 8 pm, to meet Skibenes and see her work.Enjoy some wine, yummy finger foods, good company and conversation while viewing these new artworks. Says Tassencourt, “The inspiring qualities of Lisa’s creations are a wonderful complement to the international flavor of hand crafted works by our Fair Trade artisans, in combination with our eclectic mix of fine, artisanal crafts by local artists, and oil paintings by Diane DuBois Mullaly. All come together to offer an environment with a full range of creative arts for the community to enjoy!”
And FRIVOLOUS FIBERS Yarn Boutique, located inside The Green Phoenix Gallery, adds even more interest, featuring a new collection of its own line of gorgeous, hand-spun, and hand-dyed yarns.
The Green Phoenix Gallery is located at 31 N Harrison St, Easton. 410-822-7554. Open Monday – Saturday 10 am – 5pm, closed Sunday. www.facebook.com/greenphoenixgallery
