On August 15, a small iconic business, with over three decades of service to the community, will be shutting its doors for the last night time. Just a few blocks from the Talbot County Free Library, Caldwell’s Shoe Repair on West Street in Easton is ending a special era of sole repair.
It was founded in 1935 by Charles Caldwell after he trained in shoe repair in New Jersey. And since 1999, the shop has been managed by Leroy Potter and Ricky Caldwell, the nephew of Charles and Stanley Caldwell.
Thomas Hill says
Thank you, Leroy and Rickey, for your many years of service. I don’t know what I will do without you. I do know we will miss you, but we wish you the best in your journey forward.

Fred Wyman says
Sad to see this landmark closing. They have always been delightful to deal with. They will be missed.
Elizabeth Fisher says
I will so miss the shop. The smell of it, the kind gentlemen behind the counter, and the competent repairs made on favorite shoes! At the moment, I have a shoe needing repair riding around in my car. I guess I’ll have to keep driving. I wish them best wishes for their retirement.
Forest Hansen says
This shop has been a valued part of Easton’s community, a resource we have made use of since moving here in 2003. Our only complaint was that the low charges never did justice to the consistently excellent workmanship. We will miss this little gem.
Michael Morris says
A sad day for Easton. They did excellent work on a variety of leather goods as well as shoes.
Ken Kirby says
Mr. Leroy Potter and Ricky Caldwell and Caldwell Shoes will be sorely missed. They never met a shoe they couldn’t fix. They helped all their customers to the best service at a fair price (sometimes too fair). They deserve all the positive recognition they receive.
Carol Voyles says
Thank you for saving my treasured Italian sandals alive, and countless other saves. We’ll miss you.
Philip Russell says
I’ve had the pleasure of using Caldwell’s Shoe Repair for over 32 years. From Mr. Charles, to Leroy and Rickey – all have been great. Thank you for your services. Best wishes, we will miss you.
