Women members of the BSC Group team recently attended their second meeting of Women Who Care Talbot County, where they were part of a gathering of women committed to supporting the community where they live and work.
BSC Group’s seven female team members were sponsored by Managing Partner Debbie Walsworth to grow the firm’s and individuals’ personal commitment to philanthropy.
“Our firm is rooted in this community, and we proudly support local organizations that are working to meet the unique and critical challenges in our own backyard in a variety of ways,” said Debbie Walsworth, Managing Partner. “Women Who Care Talbot County is an accessible introduction to philanthropy for the women members of our team. It is also a wonderful opportunity to develop a greater understanding of how these organizations are serving our neighbors.”
Women Who Care Talbot County is an organization of nearly 200 women who meet three times per year to learn about and fund critical programs and services in the community. Each woman pledges $100 per meeting where three vetted non-profit organizations, chosen by random drawing, make a presentation about a specific need. The members vote for their top choice, and the winning organization receives that meeting’s pledges. The most recent meeting in September raised $17,000 for the Foundation of H.O.P.E. The organization will return at the January 2025 meeting to share how they put the $17,000 to work to further their mission.
“We were ecstatic to learn that Debbie had sponsored the women on her team to join and hope that other organizations would follow BSC Group’s lead,” said Amanda David, a founding member of Women Who Care Talbot County. “Women Who Care is an approachable way for women to start or continue their philanthropic journey and make a large impact through the power of pooled resources.”
