Local Color is an art show sponsored by the Working Artists Forum (WAF) and is held during the Easton Plein Air Art Competition and Art Festival. The artists are juried into the show.
The show, held at the Tidewater Inn’s Crystal Ballroom, which featured paintings of two dimensional art in acrylic, watercolor, oil and pastel by 42 artists, was judged by Joe Gyurcsak, the Grand Prize winner of Plein Air Easton 2017.
This year’s winners are: Nancy Mysak – Best in Show for her watercolor painting “Old Ships Lines”; Carole Boggeman-Peirson – Award of Excellence for her oil painting “Day Dream”; Mary Ellen Mabe – Award of Excellence for her oil painting “Cape Charles Beach”; Lois Engberg – Award of Excellence for her oil painting “For Sale”; Fred Craig – Honorable Mention for his oil painting “Busy Port”; Matthew Ghrist – Honorable Mention for his painting “Crab Study #3”; and Katie Cassidy – Honorable Mention for her pastel painting “Farmer’s Market”
Working Artists Forum congratulates all the participating artists who were juried into this year’s excellent show, and to the public who attended the show and helped to make this show a great success. A portion of the proceeds of the art sales is donated to local public schools’ art departments by WAF as an ongoing effort to foster the visual arts of young students.
