Town of Easton to host public meeting for storm drain infrastructure improvements

November 13, 2024 by The Spy Desk

Share

The Town of Easton will hold an informational meeting on two storm drain infrastructure improvement projects on Wednesday, November 20th at 6:00 PM. The meeting will be held in the Council Chamber at Town Hall on 14 S. Harrison Street.

The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss the location, scope, and approximate timing of the storm drain improvement projects. The projects are being undertaken to reduce flooding in known problem areas, and to provide additional storm drain capacity, water quality improvements, and infrastructure resiliency.

At this time, the storm drain improvement projects in the Tanyard Branch Watershed have been awarded for construction. These projects will significantly impact travel and parking on several roads during construction, including: Center Lane, Turners Lane, Brewers Lane, and East Avenue.

Parking in the Town lot adjacent to Mill Place and the Tidewater will be prohibited during construction in that area. Limited disruptions will also occur on Harrison Street, Goldsborough Street, and Pennsylvania Avenue during construction. Limited construction activity is expected near the Rail Trail and East Avenue before the end of the year, with active construction on these projects starting in early 2025.

These projects are being managed by the Town of Easton Engineering Department. The Department will provide updates and advanced notice of lane and road closures on the Town’s website (https://EastonMD.gov), Facebook page (Town of Easton), and Instagram page (townofeastonmd). If you have questions or concerns about the project, please reach out to the Town of Easton Engineering Department at 410-820-8822.

Formally recognized in 1710 by the Province of Maryland, Easton is the county seat of Talbot County. Encompassing over 11 square miles including almost two dozen public parks and open spaces, the town has a growing population of over 17,000 residents.
