On Monday, August 5, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., attorneys from Maryland Legal Aid will be available in the Easton branch of the Talbot County Free Library to provide legal assistance on civil topics such as expungement, bankruptcy, housing law, landlord/tenant, and domestic/family for those that qualify based upon their income level. Read with a Pets on Wheels Therapy Dog at the St. Michaels Library
On Monday, August 5, at 3:30 p.m., the St. Michaels branch of the Talbot County Free Library invites children to bring their favorite book in or choose one from the library’s shelves to read with Ms. Maggie Gowe and her dog, Wally. Easton Library to Hold Young Writers’ Camp (for ages 10 – 16)
On Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday, August 6 – 8, from 2:00 -3:00 p.m., the Easton branch of the Talbot County Free Library will hold a “Young Writers’ Camp” for youths 10 – 16 years of age. Participants will learn how to write and draw cartoons, comic books, and graphic novels.
Whether the young person is a writer who thinks they can’t draw or an artist who thinks they can’t write, they will be surprised to learn all that they can in fact do. Timothy Young, who has written and illustrated 13 books, will teach creative techniques that will allow participants to become visual storytellers.
This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library and the Talbot County Arts Council, with funding from Talbot County and the Towns of Easton, Oxford, and St. Michaels. Easton Library to Host Afternoon Chess

Children to Learn How to Invent a Great Story at the St. Michaels Library

Author of “Chesapeake Requiem” to Speak at Easton Library
On Thursday, August 8, at 6:00 p.m., the Easton branch of the Talbot County Free Library will host a reading, book sale, and signing by Earl Swift, author of “Chesapeake Requiem: A Year with the Watermen of Vanishing Tangier Island.” There will also be a reception in honor of the author.
“Chesapeake Requiem: A Year with the Watermen of Vanishing Tangier Island” recounts a year Swift spent living on Tangier and talking with the watermen and women of that fabled isle. Bloomberg called it “The best nonfiction book of 2018 …. A model for what serious reportage should be.” Swift has written seven books and hundreds of major features for newspapers and magazines. He is a fellow of Virginia Humanities at the University of Virginia.

St. Michaels Library to Host Hawaiian Cultural Celebration
