Easton Library to Host (Free) Lawyer In the Library
On Monday, February 4, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., in the Easton branch of the Talbot County Free Library, free legal advice from the attorneys at Maryland Legal Aid will be available for those that qualify. Lawyers will help patrons with such civil topics such as expungement, bankruptcy, housing law, landlord/tenant, and domestic/family. All library programs are free and open to the public. Sergeant Major Donna Dear to speak at St. Michaels Library
On Monday, February 4, at noon, the St. Michaels branch of the Talbot County Free Library will host a Lunch & Learn program—sponsored by the Friends of the Library—that will feature Sergeant Major Donna Dear, U.S. Army Ret. Dear will share stories of her life in the Army, where she served for 27 years, including tours in Vietnam and the Gulf War. A member of the American Legion Blake-Blackston Post No. 77, Dear served as the Post’s first female commander.
Dear will also speak about her work with Paulette Greene raising organic grain and produce on the 70-acre farm they co-own outside Preston. As African Americans, they feel a special connection to the property which was once part of the Underground Railroad. They have helped other black farmers become established.
The Friends of the Library invite everyone to bring their lunch or a snack to this Lunch & Learn programs and enjoy coffee and dessert on the Friends. Free Family Law Assistance to Be Available at Easton Library
On Thursday, February 7, from 5:30—7:30 p.m., the Easton branch of the Talbot County Free Library invites patrons to meet with an attorney who will help them complete court forms for cases involving divorce, custody, visitation, child support, name changes, guardianship, adoption, and juvenile record expungements. This program is provided on a first come, first-served basis by the Circuit Court for Talbot County’s Family Service Grant through the Administrative Offices of the Courts, Department of Juvenile and Family Services.
