The Waterfowl Chesapeake Pavilion, a new exhibit site will be added to the 2011 Waterfowl Festival, officials announced today. The Waterfowl Chesapeake Pavilion will be the home for all things “green” in 2011, and is hosted by the Festival’s new affiliate organization, Waterfowl Chesapeake Inc., launched earlier this year. The Waterfowl Festival will be held Nov. 11-13 in Easton.
“We are excited to present this new exhibit introducing Waterfowl Chesapeake to Festival visitors and bring the conservation mission of both organizations to the forefront,” explains Judy Price, Waterfowl Festival executive director. “We look forward to partnering with conservation organizations and local green businesses to share tangible and practical ways Festival visitors can live a greener and more sustainable lifestyle.”
Located prominently on South Harrison Street next to the Talbot County Visitors Center, The Waterfowl Chesapeake Pavilion will feature interactive displays and exhibits geared to the general festival audience from local conservation organizations and green businesses focusing on everything from rain gardens to home energy audits. Waterfowl Chesapeake will also make its public debut with an exhibit sharing the 41-year conservation history of the Festival and what’s next for the new organization.
The Waterfowl Chesapeake Pavilion will also be the site for the annual Economic Development Breakfast Reception, co-sponsored by Waterfowl Chesapeake, the Talbot County Economic Development Office, and the Town of Easton Economic Development Office. Taking place on Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. before the Festival officially opens; the breakfast reception will be an opportunity for members of the local business community to network and learn more about how green organizations and businesses are making a difference on the Eastern Shore.
Paige Bethke, Director of the Talbot County Economic Development Office comments, “We are thrilled to partner with Waterfowl Chesapeake on this new exhibit and networking event. This was a natural partnership tying together the work of our office in supporting green business development and Waterfowl Chesapeake’s mission to create connections between conservation-minded businesses, non-profits, and public entities.”
Tickets are $10 for all three days.
