Talbot Hospice House Intake Coordinator Carrie Wise recently received the Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam (FHN) Funeral Home Caregivers Award. This quarterly award recognizes Talbot Hospice caregivers for their selfless devotion and generosity of heart and is based upon a nomination from a patient, family, or peer.
Wise is a Certified Hospice & Palliative Licensed Nurse with eight years’ hospice experience. As intake coordinator, she is the first person a family encounters when calling to inquire about hospice services and eligibility. “Having worked in hospice admissions for a number of years, I understand the trepidation families initially feel,” said Wise. “My goal is to make them comfortable and to ease the process as much as possible during what is otherwise a very difficult time.”
“Carrie’s kind, reassuring voice and her empathetic demeanor calm and reassure our patients and families and alleviate their fears when they call,” said Vivian Dodge, Talbot Hospice Executive Director. “This award is a well-deserved recognition of her commitment to excellence in hospice care.”
FHN also makes a donation in the recipient’s honor to the “Caregiver’s Heart” Scholarship Fund for a deserving local high school senior to pursue a career in nursing.
