Gary Jobson, world-class sailor, winner of the America’s Cup (with Ted Turner in 1983), and ESPN/NBC sailing commentator, presented “Celebrating Sailing,” a program of anecdotes, film clips, and commentary on international sailing, including last year’s America’s Cup races off San Francisco, at the Oxford Community Center on March 9, 2014.
Mr. Jobson regaled the sold-out crowd of approximately 200 with personal stories and observations based on his vast knowledge and experience on the water. A question and answer session followed the presentation, as well as a light reception featuring a favorite sailors’ libation of “Dark and Stormies.”
Jobson’s memoir, “Gary Jobson: An American Sailing Story,” was available for purchase at the event (before it sold out!) and was personally signed by the author. A good time was had by all, including many first-time visitors to the recently renovated Oxford Community Center.
