The Talbot County Council voted unanimously at their April 9 meeting in favor of entering into an MOU with the YMCA of the Chesapeake intended to strengthen aquatics programming in the County and engage more community members in programming at the County owned George Murphy Pool and Bay Hundred Pool.
As a part of the MOU, the YMCA will operate and manage both pools. “We are excited about this partnership and our ability to offer consistent training and employment for our aquatic staff across the county. We also look forward to continuing to build on the great programming that has taken place at the community pools over the years while also integrating in some new and exciting opportunities for families,” said Derek White Executive Director for the Easton Family YMCA.
The YMCA will work with Talbot County Parks and Recreation to administer free swim lessons through Sink or Swim. Talbot County Parks and Recreation will continue to coordinate with Sink or Swim to register community members for swim lessons that are to be administered by the YMCA. The YMCA will provide family events, birthday party rental opportunities, daily guest fees, summer pool memberships and expanded family swim times. For more information about pool memberships please contact the Easton Family at 410.822.0566 or www.ymcachesapeake.org.
