Free-Lunch Time Performance Series by Carpe Diem Arts presents Maggie Sansone and Andrea Hoag in “Sounds of the Season.” The concert will take place at Talbot County Senior Center, 400 Brookletts Ave., Easton, on Tuesday, December 20, 12:15pm-1:00pm.
Celebrate the many moods of the holiday season with a unique blend of Celtic and American roots music. Music for the holiday season includes songs and instrumentals from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, the Shetland Islands; old time Christmas music from the Southern Appalachians; medieval carols and traditional favorites.
One of America’s leading hammered dulcimer players, Maggie Sansone is known for her Celtic recordings and has “pioneered the adventurous mix” of chamber music and folk music, winning over two dozen awards from the Washington Area Music Association (WAMA). She is the founder and owner of the popular record company, Maggie’s Music. Grammy-nominated Andrea Hoag, winner of the WAMA Award for “best traditional fiddler,” has been featured on NPR’s All Things Considered and has performed at festivals and concert venues throughout Europe and the U.S., including the Kennedy Center and Library of Congress. Her adventurous spirit has spurred her to try many musical styles “from Irish to Klezmer, country rock to swing.” Their collaboration will make for a magical performance.
This program is made possible by the generous support of the Talbot County Arts Council with revenues provided by the Maryland State Arts Council, and by the Mid-Shore Community Foundation (MSCF), Dock Street Foundation, Brookletts Place, the Artistic Insights Fund, and by individual contributions to the Carpe Diem Arts Outreach Fund/MSCF.
The monthly 45-minute performance is FREE and open to the public. Lunch is available at 12 noon with advance reservations for $2.75. RSVP: 410-822-2869 / [email protected]
