Award-winning Maryland artist Hiu Lai Chong will present a painting demo in oil at the March 17, 2014, meeting of the St. Michaels Art League. Ms. Chong finds her painting inspiration at local marinas and shorelines along the Chesapeake Bay. She also paints portraits and figures from life using vivid colors and sensitive brush strokes to express mood and feeling in her work.
Ms. Chong earned her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is a member of Portrait Society of America, Signature Member of the American Society of Marine Artists, Washington Society of Landscape Painters, Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association, Oil Painters of America, among others. Her awards include 2013 Best Figure in the Landscape, October/November, Plein Air Salon and 2012 Grand Prize and Artist’s Choice Awards, Plein Air Easton.
The program begins at 10:00 a.m. on March 17, 2014, following a business meeting. The program is free and open to the public at Christ Church Parish Hall in St. Michaels. St. Michaels Art League is partially funded by Talbot County Arts Council and Maryland State Arts Council.
