Trappe – On May 30, Deputies from the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office stopped a white Chevrolet pickup truck for speeding on Ocean Gateway near Beaver Dam Road. As the Deputy approached the passenger compartment, he observed the passenger, Gregory Michael Chmielewski, 22 of Bel Air, MD holding a marijuana cigarette. Deputies conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle and located additional amounts of marijuana and seven packaged gummy like food substance laced with CDS. The Deputies also located approximately $1,000.00, which was confiscated with formal forfeiture proceedings being sought. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Nathaniel Charles Gilpin, 22 of Bel Air, MD who admitted co-ownership of the marijuana and money. Chmielewski and Gilpin were placed under arrest and charged with possession of CDS with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, possession of CDS and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Chmielewski and Gilpin were both released by the District Court Commissioner on their personal recognizance.
Trappe – On June 2, Deputies from the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office responded to a personal injury accident on Chancellor Point Road near Money Make Road. Deputies discovered a Volkswagon Jetta being operated by Daniel Bittner Ingham, 43 of Trappe, MD overturned in the roadway. Investigation determined Ingham was traveling in excessive speed and was unable to negotiate a curve in the roadway, driving off the right side of the road, overcorrecting to the left and overturning in the roadway. Ingham was transported to Easton Memorial Hospital and found to be under the influence of alcohol. Ingham was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of CDS and negligent driving.
Easton – On June 5, Deputies from the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office observed a GMC Cierra failing to operate in a single lane. A traffic stop was initiated and the operator, Dan McGraw Calwell, 47 of Denton, MD was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Calwell was placed under arrest and a search of his vehicle revealed a loaded 9mm handgun behind the driver’s seat along with a pistol bb gun. Calwell was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and transporting handgun in a motor vehicle. Calwell was processed and taken before a District Court Commissioner who released him on his signature.
