The town of Easton recently replaced the sidewalk on Higgins Street as part of an ongoing initiative to implement change through physical improvements across Easton.
Easton’s Public Works restored the sidewalk across from the Asbury United Methodist Church on Higgins Street and will replace the concrete sidewalk in front of the church. Additionally, a pipe will be installed from the street to the church to improve drainage issues.
Mayor Robert Willey, along with Council President Megan Cook, 4th Ward Councilman Elmer Davis, and Town Manager Donald Richardson, visited Asbury Church and its members to discuss the maintenance of the church and the continuing redevelopment of the Hill community in Easton.
Said Mayor Willey, “The Asbury Church area is one of those high priority zones we’ve identified as having a multitude of infrastructure issues that needed to be fixed., which included broken sidewalks, broken curbs, and drainage. I’m happy to report that we’re closing in on a number of these types of projects while realizing we still have more to go. As always, we ask for your patience as we move forward with the needed repairs throughout our town.”
Reverend Davis, added “It was a good concerted effort made by the Town of Easton to enhance the quality of life for individuals in Ward 4.”
The town hopes to continue to make significant progress in mending town infrastructure while serving the greater Easton area.
