During the months of January and February, Londonderry’s Rotary Club, a Satellite Club of the Rotary Club of Easton, will be supporting the Senior Supply Drive organized by the Talbot County Commission on Aging.
“Londonderry residents are deeply invested in their community,” said Christina Harrington, Londonderry CEO. “Supporting local seniors in need is one of many ways they give back and share their time with many worthy causes in the area.”
Established last year, Londonderry’s Satellite Rotary Club is made up of an energetic group of men and women who are committed to community service. Like all Rotary clubs, the satellite club holds regular meetings, in this case on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month at Londonderry, has bylaws and a board, and gets involved in community service projects, such as the Senior Supply Drive.
About 30% of Talbot County’s population is age 65 or older. This is the highest percentage of seniors in any county in the state. Incontinence affects over 60% of women and 25% of men. The Senior Supply Drive helps fill in the gaps for low-income seniors when they have an immediate need for incontinence products but do not have the means to purchase them.
Donations are much appreciated and will be distributed to Talbot County residents through the Department of Social Services, Health Department and Maryland Access Point.
Supplies need include wipes, disposable gloves, disposable flat underpads, female incontinence pads and pull-up incontinence briefs.
Items may be dropped off at Londonderry as well as the Talbot County Health Department, Brookletts Place – Talbot County Senior Center and Home Instead. Online orders may also be placed via Amazon at http://bitly.ws/yU3P. Questions may be directed to Carrie Ottey at the Talbot County Senior Center at 410-819-5678 or [email protected].
