Artists, students, mentors and guests gathered at Ouvert Gallery in St. Michaels on April 10 for a reception and exhibit of artwork created through Talbot Mentors’ Partners In Art program. Six artists and six children participated in this year’s program, in which local artists volunteer to share their skills with Talbot Mentors students.
Participating artists included Linda Kallinen, Peg Papa, Tom Ryan, Jen Wagner, Heidi Wetzel and Bronwyn Whaley. The artists offered students the opportunity to work in media such as painting, basket weaving, photography and mosaics.
Talbot Mentors Program Coordinator Rachel White thanked all of the artists for donating their time and talents, with special recognition for Jen Wagner, who also provided her gallery space for the reception. White expressed her appreciation to the Talbot County Arts Council, which, with funds from the Talbot County Council, provided funding for the program.
The next Partners In Art pairings of students with artists will begin this summer. Artists wishing to participate can contact Talbot Mentors at 410-770-5999.
