St. Michaels High School recently inducted 16 new members into the National Technical Honor Society, an organization recognizing high achievement in Career and Technology Education (CTE) courses. Candidates were selected based on the following characteristics:
- A desire to pursue a career in his/her field of study (Having completed 3 or more courses in a single CTE program with the intent to become a completer)
- Scholastic achievement (3.0 GPA or higher)
- Honesty
- Dependability
- Responsibility
- High quality task performance and pride in work performed
- Cooperation and ability to work well with others
- Interest in learning
- Initiative
- Leadership
- Citizenship
The National Technical Honor Society currently serves approximately 80,000 active members in 2014 and nearly three quarters of a million since its inception in 1984. Over $200,000 in scholarships is awarded annually to its members. The National Technical Honor Society honors the achievements of top CTE students, provides scholarships to encourage the pursuit of higher education, and cultivates excellence in today’ s highly competitive, skilled workforce. For over 30 years, the National Technical Honor Society has been the acknowledged leader in the recognition of outstanding student achievement in career and technical education.
