Award-Winning Poet to Read at Easton Library in Honor of National Poetry Month
April is National Poetry Month, and on Monday, April 23, at 6:30 p.m., the Easton branch of the Talbot County Free Library will offer you a way to celebrate that fact with a reading by award-winning poet Joelle Biele. Biele is the author of three books of poetry—“White Summer,” “Broom,” and “Tramp”—and the editor of “Elizabeth Bishop and ‘The New Yorker’: The Complete Correspondence.” A Fulbright professor in Germany and Poland, she has received awards from the Maryland State Arts Council and the Poetry Society of America.
Biele’s work has appeared in some of America’s most prestigious literary magazines, including “American Poetry Review,” “Antioch Review,” “Gettysburg Review,” “Harvard Review,” and “New England Review.” She has taught American literature and creative writing at Johns Hopkins University, the University of Maryland, Goucher College, the University of Oldenburg, Germany, and Jagiellonian University, Poland. Biele is the 2017-2018 Howard County Poetry and Literature Society Writer-in-Residence.

On Friday, April 27, at 10:00 a.m., the Easton branch of the Talbot County Free Library invites patrons to come in and learn from the Talbot County Master Gardeners about starting seeds indoors and sowing them directly in the ground. An in-depth look at reading seed packet information will be included in the talk. Afterwards, patrons may wish to visit the library’s seed library to find free seeds for planting at home.
