Excitement is building everywhere in our Community in support of Jesse Colvin, the young but highly qualified candidate who can pry Andy Harris out of the First District Congressional seat. You see signs and bumper stickers and canvassers for Jesse Colvin all over the place, because people recognize that this is the right man for the job—and there’s a long list of reasons to throw Harris out.
Fact is, a great many Colvin supporters are new to the process, perhaps the first campaign in years (or ever!) that they have really gotten involved in. And the energy is coming not just from registered democrats, but to a great extent from republicans and independents who are fed up with Harris and want to take a chance on Colvin, the young Army Vet. The word of mouth, the phone banking, the door knocking—and especially the votes on Nov 6th—are all essential if the Colvin campaign is to win this thing.
But this letter is just a frank reminder—especially to those new to the process—that it’s going to take money to win this election. Harris has plenty, almost none raised from individual donors here in our District, a ton raised from out-of-state extremist supporters and PACs like the Club For Growth. (And Harris is a member of the Coal Caucus$! Go figure.) Jesse Colvin has pledged not to accept money from corporate PACs.
One can contribute online at Jessecolvin.com, and truly every bit counts. (To date 80% of contributions to the Colvin campaign have been $200 or less. I should note, for those of means substantial means, that the limit per person is $2700.)
Let’s fund this campaign together so we can take back the First District for the actual citizens of our District. It really is up to us.
