Young Writers’ Camp (for ages 10 – 16)
Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday, July 1-3, 2:00 -3:00 p.m. Learn how to write and draw cartoons, comic books, and graphic novels. Whether you are a writer who thinks they can’t draw or an artist who thinks they can’t write, you might be surprised at what you can do. Timothy Young, who has written and illustrated 13 books, will teach creative techniques that you can use to become a visual storyteller. Story Time
Tuesdays, July 2 – 30, 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Read, sing, and play at the library during story time. Enjoy making a craft. For ages 5 and under accompanied by an adult.

Juggling Hoffmans
Wednesday, July 10, 10:30 a.m. Be amazed by the tricks and amused by the antics in a smile-along, laugh-along, interactive good time for all ages. A kid’s show that adults will love too! Adventures in Hiking (for ages 13 and older)
Thursday, July 11, 6:00 p.m. Could you, would you, hike 2100+ miles in just over 5 months? Join Appalachian Trail thru-hiker Bryan Gomes for a colorful view of the Appalachian Trail, see his backpack and all the gear that got him safely from Georgia to Maine, and try your skill at walking a slack line! Light refreshments served. To participate in the program, patrons must pre-register in person at the library. (Note: Waiver will be signed at time of registration.)

Thursday, July 18, 10:30 a.m. Reach for the stars! Find the Universe beyond. Before telescopes, people looked at the stars and dreamed. They told stories, drew pictures, and imagined how the stars came to exist in the night sky. Learn the stories of the stars as told by the ancients … and those told by modern science. Travel across the world and back in time to develop your understanding and decide: “Where did the stars come from?” and “What is the Universe beyond?” Sponsored by Eastern Shore Regional Library.
Drone Mapping (for ages 9-12)
Tuesdays, July 23 & 30, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Embark on a mission! Discover a day in the life of a drone pilot and geospatial scientist. Capture aerial photos to study water quality. Learn drone safety, manual flight skills, and coding for autonomous flight. Directed by Anna Windle, a Ph.D. student at Horn Point Laboratory, University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science. New Moon Theater: Minwa
Wednesday, July 24, 10:30 a.m. Highly interactive theatrical performance of three traditional Japanese tales that highlight our shared values of kindness, generosity, acceptance, and community responsibility. The performances also feature adventure, monsters, and a very large battle! Japanese Cultural Celebration

Patriotic Wind Chimes

The Battle of Gettysburg – Three Long, Hot, Historic Days
Thursday, July 18, 6:30 p.m. Using photos from the battlefield and accounts recorded by battle participants, Dr. Michael Cone tells the story of three days that changed the course of American history. As an added bonus, he’ll provide tips on how to find your civil war ancestor. Dr. Cone is a retired physician who specialized in neonatal care.
