Announcing Songwriting Workshop at Oxford Community Center

March 10, 2020 by Oxford Community Center

Announcing a Songwriting Workshop at the Oxford Community Center with instructor Paul Lewis.  Paul brings years of experience from classrooms around the world, to Nashville writing and performing.  He returned to the area and now serves the community teaching songwriting and performing locally.

Paul’s music career began in elementary school when he started playing trombone in the school band.  At 14 he began writing songs on an old piano and once in college started taking: piano, guitar and music theory classes.  Graduating with a degree in Theatre (Writing and Directing), Paul wrote and directed two musicals while in college.

Marrying and having two children soon after college, Paul joined the military where he worked as a photojournalist.  After the military he bounced around at a variety of jobs until moving to Indonesia in 2007 for a ten-year sojourn as an English teacher in both Christian and Muslim schools.

Returning to the States, Paul bought a 1963 Dickerson sloop that he has restored and lives on in Cambridge, Maryland. Active locally in the community, Paul performs his music around Maryland.  He was recently in Nashville for five months performing and writing.

The workshop is Tuesday March 24 & Wednesday March 25th from 1:00-3:00 PM at the Oxford Community Center. Come learn how to write a song, set it to a melody, and perform. $60 includes both days. Bring an instrument is you have one.
