The Commissioners of St. Michaels met on Thursday, April 29th to consider Governor Hogan’s order #21-04-28-01. Governor Hogan’s order relaxed the requirements for face coverings outdoors. The Commissioners understand the Governor’s mandates as they apply to businesses, however the Commissioners unanimously agreed that with our very busy town, crowded sidewalks and public areas, it is in the best interest of all to maintain our mask mandate on our crowded sidewalks and public areas.
The Commissioners will review this decision on an as needed basis, and look forward to the understanding and compliance of our residents and visitors.

On who’s authority, expertise, and on what science, do these “commissioners”declare and try to enforce their blanket order that all other citizen’s wear masks outdoors when in, or passing though, the town of Saint Michaels?
Michael Estrella says
The authority for this action came from the Governo…”Local jurisdictions as they have throughout the pandemic, will have the final say on their mask mandates.”
As for your claim that folks have to wear their masks when passing through St. Michaels, that is an incorrect statement. I suggest you obtain a copy of the document and READ it……twice! If you live in the area you can stop at the sign posted at both ends of the town limits on Talbot Street and read it as well. The tiwn commission made a choice to leave the .ask mandate in place for an additional 30 days to provide for and guard the safety of all of us, visitors and residents alike. Most of us, who have actually read the existing order, applaud them for their action.

Perhaps people should just stay out of St. Michaels until this foolish rule is lifted. There is no reason for this except for petty dictators feeding on the power to make people miserable. Staying out of St. Michaels will make some come to their senses, others never will.
