Jill Basham, a contemporary landscape artist, will be the guest presenter at the October 21, 2013, meeting of the St. Michaels Art League.  Ms. Basham comes from a family with a multi-generational history of artists and has become known for her atmospheric landscapes.  She paints in plein air as well as in her studio and is inspired by the work of the California Impressionists, including William Wendt and Edgar Payne.

Ms. Besham is the winner of local and national awards, including 3rd in Plein Air Easton! 2012.  Her work is displayed in the United States Embassy in Colombo, Sri Lanka, through the US State Department’s “Art in Embassies” program.  She is an Artist Member of the Salmagundi Club, NYC, American Impressionist Society, American Women Artists, OPA, The Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association and the Working Artists Forum.

The monthly meetings, on the third Monday of each month at the Parish Hall of Christ Episcopal Church in St. Michaels, are free, and the presentation, which will start at 10:00 a.m., is open to the public.  The Art League’s monthly programs are partially funded by a grant from the Talbot County Arts Council.
