While countless things can go wrong as one gets older, nothing can be as devastating than losing one’s eyesight. Whether it be due to macular degeneration, or a similar late-in-life condition, some seniors not only lose their sight, but they also lose their ability to drive, and become increasingly dependent on loved ones or friends for transportation needs.
With all that in mind, the Spy asked Irma Toce, the CEO of Londonderry on the Tred Avon, the other day about one of the most extreme and painful experiences elders might need to endure as part of the aging process.
Irma has unique qualifications to talk about this kind of challenge. Her father lost his sight when she was growing up in the Netherlands. And it was through her dad’s ordeal, she knows firsthand that one can indeed cope, even thrive, with this serious handicap.
This video is approximately three minutes in length. For more information about Londonderry on the Tred Avon please go here.
