The Boychoir of the Chesapeake, now in its third season, is accepting enrollments for the fall term. Open to students in the second through eighth grades, Boychoir of the Chesapeake offers in addition to regular performance opportunities instruction in voice, music theory, and ensemble skills. An affiliate of the international RSCM Voice for Life organization, the training program offers boys the opportunity to develop as a chorister while working through individual levels of musicianship. At the completion of each level, choristers earn bronze medals with a colored cords corresponding to the level completed. The choir meets each Monday beginning September 16 from 4:30 – 6 pm at Christ Church located at 111 S. Harrison Street in downtown Easton and is open to students throughout the Mid-Shore region.
The Boychoir of the Chesapeake was formed under the direction of Wes Lockfaw who holds degrees in sacred music from Catawba College and Southern Seminary and has done additional graduate work at Westminster Choir College. Mr. Lockfaw has been the Director of Music at Christ Church in Easton since 2009 as well as Artistic Director for the Easton Choral Arts Society since 2010. Additionally, he is Dean of the Mid-Shore Maryland Chapter of the American Guild of Organists which he was instrumental in chartering in 2014.
