On Wednesday, January 14, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum will host Exploring the History of the Bay Bridge with author David Guth. The program takes place from 2-3:30 pm. in the museum’s Van Lennep Auditorium, with seating limited and pre-registration needed.
Author of Bridging the Chesapeake: A ‘Fool Idea’ That Unified Maryland, Guth will share the history of the William Preston Lane, Jr. Memorial Bridge, known as the “Bay Bridge” to most of us. His book captures the story of two Marylands—one on each side of the Chesapeake. Guth will explore the history of the project, and the political, cultural, environmental and engineering challenges that were faced in building today’s iconic double-spanned bridge. Signed copies of Guth’s book also will be available for purchase after the talk.
The cost is $6 for CBMM members and $8 for non-members, with pre-registration needed by emailing [email protected] or calling 410-745-4941. For more information, visit www.cbmm.org.

Could you please give us an update on the Shore Regional Hospital for Easton – when we might expect it now that permission has been granted for the land to be purchased.
