Benefit for the Hammond-Harwood House: 2019 Secret Garden Tour

May 30, 2019 by Spy Desk

The 2019 historic Hammond Harwood House Secret Garden Tour features private gardens in the Historic District of Annapolis. This year’s tour is Saturday and Sunday, June 1st and 2nd, from noon to 5:00 pm. Individual tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door on the day of the event. Group rates are available. The area between City Dock and Spa Creek holds architectural gems from Annapolis’ earliest days as well as Victorian-era and 20th-century homes. The gardens range from extremely small to surprisingly large, from formal to cottagelike, and from well-established to quite new. All the gardens epitomize the goals of the home gardener: to have a beautiful space filled with flowers, trees, shrubs, grasses, and other garden elements, a space that is a pleasure to live in and inspirational to work in.
Several gardens will feature the fruit and vegetable garden sculptures of Talbot County Landscape Designer Jan Kirsh, including her newest “Pineapple” design.

All proceeds from this tour will benefit the 1774 Hammond-Harwood House, an Anglo-Palladian home on Maryland Avenue, and its museum collection of paintings, furniture, and colonial decorative art.
