We are not always fond of attending museum opening night exhibits, better to go when it is a bit less crowded, especially if it is the work of a major artist. Of course, there is no reason you can’t do both ! The Rothko retrospective at the Academy Art Museum is on exhibit now through April 22. The museum is open until 8 pm during the week. Click here for a full review of the show.
The whole family will enjoy “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown”, at the Easton High School. The lively musical is a series of songs and scenes that celebrate an average day in the life of Charlie Brown, the beloved comic strip character. The six member leading cast will be colorfully complemented by members of the “Peanuts gang” and a live orchestra. Opening show this Friday.
Lastly, we are totally intrigued by the band playing Sunday at the NightCat, the Emmy award nominated, hip-hop/bluegrass band Gangstagrass. You gotta love the name. The band started reaching a wide audience when their song “Long Hard Times to Come” was selected as the opening theme song of FX’s acclaimed series, Justified. The Wall Street Journal says their music “…might repel some purists on either side of the country-and-rap divide, but will knock the socks off just about everybody else.”
