As part of the 46th annual Waterfowl Festival, scheduled for Thursday-Sunday, November 10-13, 2016, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum is offering free rides to Festival ticket holders on its 1934 Hooper Island dovetail Martha. Departing from and returning to Easton Point Marina at the end of Port Street, rides will be at noon, 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 12, and Sunday, November 13, and offered on a first-come, first served basis. All cruises are weather-dependent, with limited passengers.
CBMM’s 1955 skipjack Rosie Parks, recent winner of the 2016 Choptank Heritage Skipjack Race, will also be dockside at Easton Point. As part of the festivities, National Premium Beer representatives will be offering free samples to adults.
Rosie Parks and Martha were built by celebrated Dorchester County boatbuilder Bronza Parks, and while typically docked year round at CBMM in St. Michaels, Md., will be at Easton Point Marina during the entire 2016 Waterfowl Festival.
CBMM’s collection of historic Chesapeake Bay watercraft—the largest in the world—includes the 1889 log-bottom bugeye Edna E. Lockwood, which is now under restoration through 2018, with all work on the new log hull done in full public view. CBMM remains committed to maintaining these historic vessels afloat, and keeping these boats in operating or sailing condition. See progress updates and more about the restoration project at ednalockwood.org, or find more information at cbmm.org or 410-745-2916.
