A “No Host” cocktail party to kick off the CYRG race will be held at Eastport Yacht Club in Annapolis on Friday, May 20 at 5pm. There will be a dressed ship competition from approximately 0330 pm that afternoon. Plan to join us at the yacht club grounds to view the fleet, enjoy a libation and if you wish, the Club is extending dining privileges that evening to participating boat crews, CYRG members and guests.
Saturday Morning, May 21, The start of the race will be from the grounds of the Eastport Yacht Club, beginning with an 0830 captains meeting. The starting gun will sound about 0900 am, plan to be there to cheer your favorite captain and crew as they weigh anchor and get underway.
Saturday Afternoon, May 21, Classic Yacht Restoration Guild members are welcome to join us at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michael’s to watch the fleet sail in during the afternoon.
An awards ceremony begins at 5 pm at the Museum, followed by a reception of light food and beverages.
If you and guests plan to attend, please contact us at [email protected] to let us know. Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum members enter the grounds for free, all others will need to pay the day visitor fee.
Volunteers are Needed !
Would you like to participate in the Elf Classic as a volunteer? We need at least two or three volunteers to be at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michael’s on Saturday, May 21 from around 12 noon to 6 or 7 pm to help
organize the finish of the race and the awards ceremony and reception. This will include:
* Standing by to direct captains for landing as the row in and sign the log
* Helping set up for the award ceremony and reception
* Tending the table with t-shirts for sale and donations
* Minor clean up afterwards
We are also looking for a volunteer to serve on the Fleet Escort/Chase Boat that can bring a handheld VHF radio and a cell phone and can handle communication with the fleet as needed during the race, and we still need a Chase Boat.
If you can help with any of the above, please contact Rick at [email protected]
