County Commissioners Seeking Members for Several Boards and Commissions

The Queen Anne’s County Commissioners are actively seeking individuals to fill vacancies on several Boards and Commissions.

The Queen Anne’s County Commissioners are actively seeking individuals to fill vacancies on several Boards and Commissions.  The deadline for applications is April 30, 2024. The following boards and commissions have vacancies:

• Bay Bridge Airport Advisory Committee
• Blue Heron Golf Course Advisory Committee
• Board of Electrical Examiners
• Department of Emergency Services Advisory Council
• Housing Authority Board
• Board of License Commissioners (Liquor Board)
• Social Services Board
• Personnel Board

The Economic Development Incentive Fund Commission provides economic development programs and initiatives to foster new commercial opportunities while continuing to focus on the intrinsic development of existing business entities.

The Bay Bridge Airport Advisory Committee investigates, reviews, reports and makes recommendations on the use & future use of Bay Bridge Airport, and its facilities, to review periodically the operating procedures of the Airport to ensure compatibility of such procedures with the welfare of the community and to uphold the Bay Bridge Airport as an economic, recreational and educational center and promote good community relations.

The Blue Heron Golf Course Advisory Committee is intended for the County Commissioners to obtain advice on issues and policies pertaining to the Blue Heron Golf Course from a select group of citizens who the Commissioners believe to have the diverse backgrounds, relevant expertise, and interest to provide advice that appropriately represents opinions held by the broader community.

The Board of Electrical Examiners examines the qualifications and capabilities of persons who are engaged, or desire to engage, in business as a master or limited electrician and to perform such other functions designated by the Board of County Commissioners.

The Department of Emergency Services Advisory Council advises the Department on policy matters concerning emergency services provision in QAC, including equipment, standard operating procedures, protocols, medications, and personnel education/training requirements. Additionally, assistance is provided in public information and education related to emergency services. An annual report on the status of emergency services in the County is submitted to the Department, along with the performance of other relevant duties.

The Housing Authority Board provides decent, safe and affordable housing for the residents of Queen Anne’s County. They may acquire, own, lease and operate housing projects and provide for the construction, reconstruction, improvement, alteration or repair of any housing project; make rent subsidy payments to or on behalf of persons of eligible income, investigate into living, dwelling and housing conditions, and into the means and methods of improving such conditions, and other related tasks.

The Board of License Commissioners (Liquor Board) is responsible for reviewing alcoholic beverage license applications, issuing licenses, license renewals, enforcement of laws, and printing, publishing and updating alcoholic beverage regulations.

The Social Services Board serves in an advisory capacity to the director and members act as liaisons to bring concerns from their communities and to take back information. Social Services Board members participate in the process to select the Director of Social Services for appointment and complete the Director’s annual performance evaluation with the Department of Human Resources.

The Personnel Board hears and decides all appeals by members of the classified service from personnel actions taken by the County.
