American Legion Post 70 recently announced Dfc. Marlene Gieraltowski as the winner for its Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award. Dfc. Gieraltowski was selected from among other candidates who competed from other police agencies in Talbot County. The award recognizes the personal efforts, case successes, professionalism, and community service aspects of those nominated. American Legion Post 70 chairs an annual review committee that seeks candidates for community service awards in Talbot County; with the law enforcement selection being part of that process. The community awards program is an outreach effort of Post 70 in supporting and recognizing community service that is consistent with the goals and mission of the American Legion.
