“Oh, the thinks you can think” when Dr. Seuss’ best-loved characters collide and cavort in an unforgettable musical extravaganza!
Under the direction of Richard A. Vitanovec, Easton Middle School Theatre Department brings Dr. Seuss’ colorful, beloved characters to life in a musical that even “The Grinch” would love. Let your imagination run wild amidst the toe-tapping cornucopia of musical styles– ranging from Latin to pop, swing to gospel, and R&B to funk.
Tony Award winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters.
The Cat in the Hat (Claire Weedon) introduces us to Horton (Logan Herron), an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the “Whos”, including Mr. Mayor (Luke Adelman), Mrs. Mayor (Selene Wagner) and their son, Jojo (Connor Flaherty), a “Who” child sent off with General Gengus Khan Schmitz (Jaylen Nixon) to a military school for thinking too many “thinks”. Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the “Whos” from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird (Sammi Tibbitt). Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the faithful Gertrude McFuzz (Sara Chapple) never loses faith in him. Throughout this musical extravaganza, Dr. Seuss’ characters battle with standing up for friendship, loyalty, family, community, and learn some very valuable lessons
For kids and adults who grew up reading Dr. Seuss books, this musical adaption of his classic stories will be fun for the whole family.
