As America Celebrates the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, A Tribute to Frederick Douglass Who Extended Its Ideals to All Americans
“Bear Me Into Freedom: The Chesapeake Odyssey of Frederick Douglass” tells the story of the civil rights leader’s journey from abject poverty and enslavement to becoming a transformational figure whose fiery oratory and compelling writing advanced America towards the fulfillment of its founding ideals.
“Bear Me Into Freedom” is being developed by the Bear Me Into Freedom Project to support Maryland’s 250 observance. It is a video installation incorporating leading edge technology to capture the epic struggle of Frederick Douglass to achieve the Declaration’s promise that “all men are created equal”.
