Food and Donations Will Help Hungry Pets in Three Counties

June 5, 2014 by Pet Pantries

Share

Pet Pantries, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Easton, was the beneficiary of the recent day-long SUNSALE event at Easton Eye Care. During the event, local residents made donations of pet food and cash at the Pet Pantries table, and Easton Eye Care donated a portion of the day’s sales proceeds to the organization. Pet Pantries provides pet food to the Humane Organizations in Talbot, Caroline, and Dorchester Counties. The pet food is then distributed to people in those Counties who cannot afford to feed their pets.

“We are so grateful to Easton Eye Care for choosing Pet Pantries as the beneficiary of this huge annual event for the second year in a row,” said Pet Pantries President Barbara Mulready. “The event exceeded all expectations for us and for Easton Eye Care. This is a great way to kick off our major fundraising events for the Spring and Summer.

“Based on last year’s need and distribution, our goal for 2014 is to collect and distribute 20,000 pounds of food. Spring, Summer and Fall are the months that we collect the food needed to get pets through the Winter. Thanks to Easton Eye Care and the generous donations we received at Easton Eye Care’s SUNSALE, we are 3,000 pounds of food closer to our 2014 goal.”

Pet Pantries was not the only winner at the event. Lucky pet food donor Bradley Holt, age 9 won an Apple iPad mini donated by Easton Eye Care.

“This is a very busy time for us,” said Mary Kramer, Vice-President of Pet Pantries. “It is our most important time for food drives and fundraising, so we are busy planning and holding events.

“Our next event will be our Fill The Truck Food Drive that will be held on June 14th from 10 AM to 2 PM at the Giant and at the Acme (both stores are in Easton). We hope to have a great turnout for this event to get us even closer to our goal of collecting 20,000 pounds of pet food during 2014!”

More exciting details will follow about the June 14th event!

Another Pet Pantries event is a raffle of Ravens Box Seats. Only 500 tickets were printed. They are available at the Pet Pantries’ Web at petpantries.org. Visit the Web site to purchase your raffle tickets, to volunteer, make a donation of pet food or money, host a pet food drive, and keep up with the latest news.
