The St. Michaels Art League and the St. Michaels Branch of the Talbot County Free Library are pleased to present a free instructional video series by the popular, nationally known watercolor artist Janet Rogers.
Three instructional videos will be presented: “Expressive Watercolor Portraits”, “Expressive Watercolor Florals” and “Watercolor Rhythms with Figures” on January 17, 24 and 31, respectively; all from 1-3pm.
In her video “Expressive Watercolor Portraits” on January 17th, Janet Rogers teaches her intuitive methods to create fresh, expressive portraits. She demonstrates a unique approach of letting the watercolor dance around the paper, using values and colors to bring the subject to life.
For the video “Expressive Watercolor Florals” on January 24th, she uses a series of playful exercises, showing how to capture the essence of flowers. Three flower demonstrations will be presented: “Roses”, “Iris and Daisies”, and “Sunflowers”.
For the last video on January 31st, “Watercolor Rhythms with Figures”, she will demonstrate six different subjects. She begins with warm ups, focusing on painting quickly with color and shapes to capture gesture and motion; “discovering the rhythms”.
These courses are FREE and open to everyone. No previous experience is necessary and no registration is needed. Participants may paint along or just observe. Please contact Camille Woodbury at [email protected] or 410-253-3262 if you plan to attend. More information is also available at smartleague.org.
This program is funded in part by a grant from the Talbot County Arts Council with revenue provided by the Maryland State Arts Council.
