This from Investors’ Business Daily:
Vanderbilt University researchers have found that a compound called VUAA1 affects insects’ sense of smell, repelling them much like a skunk’s smell repels humans and animals. In tests it’s been found to be 1000 more effective than DEET. It works on all types in insects — mosquitoes, moths, ants, flies, etc. Vanderbilt has filed for a patent on VUAA1, which needs more research before it can be approved for commercial use.
Editor’s query: How would it affect pollinators?
